DecoGlaze® Motorsport Ends First Season in Pro Stock with a DNQ
Posted by: Ryan Corfield – Monday, 15th June 2009

After finishing the KARCHER Nitro Champs with a runner-up trophy, the DecoGlaze® Motorsport team were looking to keep the ball rolling and try and experience some of the same success during the season ending Castrol EDGE Winternationals held at Willowbank Raceway over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend. Unfortunately, the team ended the season with a DNQ. The team were trying a few things with the clutch setup and unfortunately they didn’t work.

“It’s a shame that we did so well at the KARCHER Nitro Champs and then we came here and failed to qualify. It’s just part of Pro Stock Drag Racing, it’s tough!,” remarked Jason Hedges, DecoGlaze® Motorsport team owner and driver.

Once again, for the fourth time this season, the qualifying field was the quickest in ANDRA Drag Racing history with the bump being equal to the team’s PB 7.152.

“I’m not at all surprised that the bump was as quick as what it was. I said before the meeting that if we were going to qualify for the event we would have needed to run somewhere around the 7.13 second range. It just goes to show how tough this bracket is,” explained Hedges.

At the conclusion of the first season for the DecoGlaze® Motorsport Pro Stock team, the team can look back and be satisfied with their achievements.

“If you would have come and told me that we as a team would be going to our first final round in our third full meeting, I would have told you to stop pulling my leg. I was just taking this season as a learning curve. We have got a good grasp of what and what not to do in varying racing conditions and will be able to put this information to good use next season,” said Hedges.

Aaron Tremayne, team mate to Jason Hedges took out the 2008/2009 ANDRA Pro Stock Championship for the second consecutive year. Whilst, Shane Tucker won the event over Melbourne racer, Lee Bektash.

“Congratulations to Aaron and the entire team for the second straight championship. I’m thrilled to be a sponsor of the champion for the second year running. Aaron has been one of the main reasons why we have hit the ground running in such a short period of time,” said Hedges.

During the off season, the DecoGlaze® Motorsport plans to make some testing laps to fine tune some loose ends with the setup.

DecoGlaze® Motorsport would like to take the opportunity to thank sponsors: DecoGlaze® Glass Splashbacks, J&D Custom Cabinetry, Tremaniac Racing and Mobile Automotive Services (MAS) for their support throughout the season. Without these people we wouldnt be where we are at the moment. DecoGlaze® Motorsport is also proud to announce that they will be joining us again in the 2009/2010 season.
